<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device which can suppress deterioration of a light receiving element (FMD) for power monitoring caused by interference fringes with a simple configuration, and a power monitor optical system. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup device includes: a semiconductor laser 101 for emitting a laser beam; a diffraction grating 102 for separating the laser beam emitted from the semiconductor laser 101 into a main beam and a sub-beam; a polarized beam splitter 103 for separating the laser beam transmitted through the diffraction grating 102; a power monitor FMD 112 for receiving the laser beam transmitted through the polarized beam splitter 103; and a parallel flat plate 111 inclined and disposed between the polarized beam splitter 103 and the FMD 112. Astigmatism is introduced to the main beam and the sub-beam by the parallel flat plate 111, and interference fringes on the FMD 112 are suppressed.
