PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform natural color expression without sense of incongruity by suppressing glaring feeling of an object color of high color saturation while effectively utilizing wide color gamut of a display when displaying an image with color gamut wider than color gamut belonging to a broadcast signal or the like. SOLUTION: A display device 1 includes a luminance adjusting part 12 for adjusting the luminance of an output video signal obtained by mapping an input video signal corresponding to a predetermined color space into a color space of color gamut wider than the predetermined color space. The display device 1 sets a display line showing the range of a displayable color space, a target line showing a boundary between an object color and light emitting color included in the input video signal, and a discrimination line for discriminating an object color and light emitting color included in the output video signal, as functions of luminance and color saturation in each hue. A luminance adjusting part 12 detects hue, color saturation and luminance of pixels constituting the output video signal, and when the luminance of the pixels is lower than that of the discrimination line, adjusts the luminance of the pixels to be lower than that of the target line on the basis of the target line and the discrimination line.
