946,748. Inflatable suits. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. June 9, 1960 [June 23, 1959], No. 21420/59. Heading A3V. [Also in Division B7] An underwater swimming suit of thin, flexible material fitting closely to the body of the wearer has a conduit 14 whereby the wearer may exhale air into the suit 10 to increase its internal pressure and valve mechanism for preventing return of air from the suit to the wearer's breathing apparatus. Relief valves 26 restricting the difference between the internal and external pressures to a predetermined value are positioned as in Specification 946,747. The conduit 14 has a detachable connection 18 to the face mask 11, the latter including a valve disc 19 with apertures 20 and a sealing flap 21 permitting air to be blown from the mask into the suit via the conduit 14 but preventing air (or water if conduit 14 is separated) from entering the mask. A spring- loaded valve 22, normally held off its seat by a projection 25 engaging the flap 21 will seal the conduit 14 against escape of air from the suit if the parts become disconnected. |
