947,666. Chucks &c. WICKMAN Ltd. Sept. 10, 1962 [Sept. 21, 1961], No. 33805/61. Heading B3B. A rotary work-holder comprises a hollow body 1 one end of which is bolted to a hollow driving spindle 3, the other end being adapted to facilitate abutment of a workpiece against a shoulder 5. Within the body is a relatively rotatable sleeve 6, internally splined and axially located by a radial flange 7. Between the sleeve 6 and the body 1 is situated a unidirectional clutch 9 of any known type. The internal splines on the sleeve co-operate with complementary splines on an axially displaceable nosepiece 10 which is connected to a drawbar 11 by a bolt 12. The free end of the nosepiece 10 is provided with an eye 14 to receive a transverse locating pin 15 which is secured against transverse movement by a spring- loaded plunger 19 in co-operation with a peg 18 at the opposite side of the eye to the plunger. For operation the pin 15 is positioned through the workpiece 4 and eye 14 and the nosepiece retracted to hold the workpiece against the shoulder 5. The uni-directional clutch permits alignment of the eye and pin for installation and removal of workpieces. |
