The gas cooking surface, particularly gas cooking hob, has a gas burner (3), an operating element (4) and a grill cap, which has a grill plate (5). The grill cap is placed on a side of an exhaust air outlet (6), where the side of the exhaust air outlet is provided opposite to the operating element. An exhaust air stream (12) is guided to the operating element.
