Process for producing polyolefin foam particles

Producing expanded particles containing at least one polyolefin, comprises: (a) preparing a suspension containing a granulate containing at least one polyolefin, in a suspending medium; (b) impregnating the granulate in the suspension with at least one propellant to obtain a granulate filled with propellant in the suspension; and (c) releasing the suspension obtained in the step (b) to get expanded particles. The phase ratio of granulate provided in the step (a) to the suspending medium is greater than 0.5. An inorganic propellant or propellant mixture is used as propellant in the step (b). Independent claims are also included for: (1) expanded particles obtained by the above mentioned method; (2) foam comprising the expanded particles; (3) a molding comprising the expanded particles, or produced from the expanded particles; and (4) producing the molding, comprising producing expanded particles and foaming the expanded particles in an appropriate shape to obtain the molding.
