The method involves automatically detecting operating conditions of a vehicle (2), where the vehicle is connected with an end (5) of an electrical conductor (4) by male and female connectors (13, 14). Other male and female connectors (7, 8) are automatically and mechanically locked between another end (6) of the conductor and a power supply network based on the operating conditions of the vehicle. A charging process of an electrical energy storage of the vehicle is controlled depending on the mechanical locking of the latter connectors. An independent claim is also included for a device for connecting a vehicle with a power supply network.
