The method involves controlling processing of an object (5) e.g. blank, using a processing program (15), where processing of the object is performed by an automation machine (8) with electric energy consumers e.g. motors (3a-3c) and control panel (6). Active electric power consumed by each of the energy consumers is determined. Electrical energies consumed by the machine and/or the consumers per processing steps of the machine and/or per flow of the processing program are determined from the determined active electric power, and stored based on the program. An independent claim is also included for a device for operating an automation machine.
