FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: described is a method for including an identifier into a packet associated with a speech signal. The signal is received and then divided into multiple frames. The signal frames are coded into a packet and it is determined whether the packet has been coded as a wideband packet or a narrowband packet. The inadmissible value of an N-bit parameter is then packetised based on the determination, wherein the inadmissible value identifies one coding scheme. The packet is transmitted. At least two inadmissible values are provided from the N-bit parameter, where at least one bit of the N-bit parameter is used to convey information. The number of bits from the N-bit parameter which are used to convey information is equal to log2(X), X being the number of inadmissible values provided from the N-bit parameter. ^ EFFECT: high efficiency of coding or speech quality. ^ 26 cl, 54 dwg |
