<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing equipment which enables continuation of printing even when a printing parameter not interpretable by the printing equipment is sent from a PC or the like due to version inconsistency between a body plug-in and a driver plug-in, etc. <P>SOLUTION: The printing equipment has group information of similar functions. When it is determined that a function designated by printing data is not carried in the printing equipment itself, the group information is searched, and whether the similar function of a group to which the designated function belongs is to be used as an alternate function is presented to a user.
