The device has a reactor (1) with a cylindrical cavity (50), a feeding device (48) for fresh biomass e.g. pellet (52), and a particle filter (40) for used and gasified biomass. An agitating arm (68), an agitator shaft (70), a gear mechanism (72) and two freely movable balls (66) are arranged in the cavity, where the balls are made of metal and heatable from outside the cavity by applying electromagnetic energy. The cavity is arranged in an inclined manner with respect to a base plate (60) during an operation, such that the biomass to be gasified is moved toward a pull-off lock (56).
