The plasticizing device has a plasticizing cylinder (2a) with a material feeding system (1) and has a smooth round body (3) such as a piston concentrically arranged in the plasticizing cylinder. The round body corresponds to the inner diameter of the plasticizing cylinder. The plasticizing cylinder is provided with screw channels (2b) on the inner side. The inner round body is both rotationally and axially movable relatively opposite to the plasticizing cylinder. An independent claim is also included for a method for preparing and conveying plastic molding material for the production of molded articles from thermoplastic or cross-linked polymeric substances.
