PURPOSE:To enable the unformed positive electrode plate to be formed in an electric tank having a structure with only small liquid space so as to obtain a sealed-type lead storage battery, by making the height of the negative electrode electric tank roughly equal to the thickness of the negative electrode plate, and also by making the height of the positive electrode electric tank roughly equal to the combined thickness of the positive plate and the separator. CONSTITUTION:Positive electrode active material 6 and negative electrode active material 3 are contained in the bisected electric tank formed by combining the current collecting body 5 and an electric tank 4, and the current collecting body 2 and an electric tank 1, respectively. These bisected electric tanks are welded or adhered together with a separator 7 in between. In such a type of sealed-type lead storage battery, the height of the negative electrode electric tank 1 is made roughly equal to the thickness of a negative electrode plate 3, whereas the height of the positive electrode electric tank 4 is made roughly equal to the combined thickness of the positive electrode plate 6 and the separator 7. As a result, since there is enough height in the positive electrode electric tank 4, unformed paste is hardly stuck to the edge of the positive electrode electric tank 4. When the positive electrode active material 6 is to be formed in the anode electric tank 4, the edge of the positive electrode electric tank 4 will not be wetted by splash of dilute sulphuric acid. Thus, after the positive electrode active material 3 in the positive electrode electric tank 1 is soaked with an electrolyte, the positive electrode electric tank 1 and the negative electrode electric tank 4 can be adhered easily. |
