PURPOSE: An image display device using a light detecting screen and a driving method thereof is provided to improve the usage of a large size of a display panel by using various kinds of contents of a display unit. CONSTITUTION: In an image display device using a light detecting screen and a driving method thereof, a display panel(2) includes an image having a plurality of pixel regions. A plurality of drivers drives the display panel. A light detection screen(12) includes a plurality of light detection sensors in matrix type and is formed in the front side of a display panel. A remote controller has a light projection unit emitting light on the light detection screen. A sensor driver(14) detects the intensity of radiation of light supplied to the light detection sensors from the remote controller.
