PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally assisted magnetic recording head that prevents a near-field light generating element from beings damaged by heat generated when laser light is absorbed to the near-field light generating element. SOLUTION: A thermally-assisted magnetic recording head comprises a slider 3 and a magnetic head part 2. The magnetic head part 2 includes a recording magnetic pole 21, a playback element 22, a coil 23, a near-field light generating element 24, and a waveguide 25. A metal film having high heat conductivity is formed on both sides in width direction of the magnetic head part of the near-field light generating element 24. The use of the metal film as a radiator plate ensures to prevent the temperature of the near-field light generating element 24 from becoming locally high. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
