PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately estimate the temperature of an exhaust system in a simple method. SOLUTION: The temperature estimating device of the exhaust system includes steady-temperature calculating means 114 and 134 for calculating steady-temperatures T<SB>ingasSTA</SB>and T<SB>tcsurfSTA</SB>which are steady values of a temperature of a specified part of the exhaust system in accordance with an operation state of an engine, primary-delay processing means 115 and 135 for calculating after-delay processing temperatures T<SB>ingasF</SB>and T<SB>tcsurfF</SB>by performing primary-delay processing using the steady temperatures T<SB>ingasSTA</SB>and T<SB>tcsurfSTA</SB>, weighted-average processing parts 116 and 138 for calculating after-weighted average processing temperatures T<SB>ingas</SB>and T<SB>tcsurf-wave</SB>by performing weighted-average processing based on the after delay processing temperatures T<SB>ingasF</SB>and T<SB>tcsurfF</SB>, and estimated-temperature calculating means 117 and 137 for calculating estimated temperatures T<SB>ingas</SB>and T<SB>tcsurf</SB>which are the estimated values of the temperature of the specified part of a turbocharger based on the after-weighted average processing temperatures T<SB>ingas</SB>and T<SB>tcsurf-wave</SB>.
