PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mercury scavenger scavenging the mercury present in a living body and excreting it in a good efficiency. SOLUTION: The mercury accumulated in the body is excreted by administering the mercury scavenger containing a binuclear molybdenum complex having a central backbone expressed by formula (1) as an active ingredient. In this case, in the binuclear molybdenum complex, preferably a sulfur-containing amino acid especially cysteine is coordinated with the molybdenum atom in the central backbone of the complex.
