970,136. Helical shoots. THOMAS ROBINSON & SON Ltd. May 23, 1963 [June 19, 1962], No. 23605/62. Heading B8S. A helical shoot is made up of fibre glass sections secured together to form a helical guideway surrounding a central cylindrical support, each section comprising a portion of the guideway and of the central cylinder. The construction is basically the same as in Specification 944,566 with the addition of an upright outer wall 10 to the guideway 12. In Fig. 1, each section of the shoot consists of a tubular member 11, and two guideway portions 12, each with an outer wall 10, the complete construction thus providing two separate helical pathways, 180 degrees apart, surrounding a common central axis. Successive guideway- and-wall portions of the shoot section are joined together by bolts fitted into radial flanges 17 and successive tubular portions are joined by means of a tubular insert 19, Fig. 4 (not shown), fitted into both tubular portions at each junction of such portions. |
