PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data processing apparatus, a printer, an image data processing method, and a program for simplifying at least one of compression data generation processing and compression data development processing by saving processing to any blank line whose coloring is unnecessary in data. SOLUTION: This image data processing apparatus is configured to generate mask information (S20), to determine whether or not the processing object block of Jpeg generation processing in scan data (image data) is a white block (S30), to perform Jpeg generation processing (S40) when the processing object block is the white block, and to skip the Jpeg generation processing when the processing object block is not the white block.
