PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, device and system for efficiently detecting a road mark without requiring an extremely big calculation capability when a road mark, such as lane marking and a road boundary is not continuous, when the road mark is curved, when the size of the road mark is not known, or the like. SOLUTION: The method includes the steps for: receiving an image (3) of a road (4) in front of a vehicle (2) from an imager (1); determining an area of interest in an identified road in the image; and detecting road marks (8L and 8R) by detecting lane marking (7L and 7R) within the area of interest and detecting a road boundary within the area of interest when the lane marking can not be detected.
