PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the displacement of water-cooled copper plates capable of sufficiently obtaining the performance of water-cooled copper plates in consideration of the solidification profile of a slab and capable of producing the slab of high quality. SOLUTION: In the method for measuring the displacement of water-cooled copper plates 13, 14 fixedly arranged at the inside of a mold for continuous casting, since, using range finders 24 to 26, 19 to 21 arranged at the back parts of back plates 15, 16 arranged at the reverse sides of the water-cooled copper plates 13, 14, the movement distances a'a of the back plates 15, 16 are measured, the performance of the water-cooled copper plates 13, 14 in consideration of the solidification profile of a slab can be sufficiently obtained, and the slab of high quality can be produced.
