Method and device for configuring a component in an industrial automation device

The method involves transmitting authentication information concerning to components (K) of an industrial automation arrangement to a configuration device i.e. client profile management service (CPMS). A profile is selected or replaced for the components depending on the information by the configuration device, where the profile contains configuration data. The profile is transmitted to the components by the configuration device, and the data of the profile is used in the components. A certificate inputted into the components or stored in the components is used as the information. An independent claim is also included for a device for configuring components in an industrial automation arrangement comprising a communication unit for exchanging authentication information and profiles with components.
