In a Fourdrinier paper-making machine of the type having pressure applying means-for example wire 5 and roll 7-above wire 2, excess stock is removed from in front of roll 7 by means 12. As shown the means 12 comprise a suction channel directed towards roll 7, but may comprise a scoop, possibly aided by suction, facing the headbox, or deckle boards on each side of wire 2 and having a line of holes through which excess pulp passes to be returned, directly or indirectly, to the headbox. Blade 10 removes the water from inside the wire 5. To form a multi-ply board, more than one headbox 1 and wire 5 &c. are disposed above wire 2.</p> |
