An telecommunication device is operated in a communication system comprising a wireless first communication system comprising a wireless radio access network and a core network and a second communication system comprising a network controller that provides access to the core network. A Transmission Control Protocol over Internet Protocol, TCP/IP, connection is established between the network controller and the telecommunication device. A channel activation message is received from the network controller of the second communication system over the TCP/IP connection. A Voice over Internet Protocol, VoIP, voice bearer channel is established to access voice beraer services of the wireless first communication system via the network controller of the second communication system. A channel activation acknowledgement message is sent ot the network controller after establishing the voice bearer channel with ther network controller.
