PURPOSE: A color compression method and display device using the same are provided to exactly and rapidly perform color band compression by converting data which will be inputted on a color band display device at a uniform color space of a CIELAB into three primary standard data. CONSTITUTION: RGB data having a standard color band is converted into L1C1H1 data at a uniform color space(S1). A gamma feature modeling result data of a color band display device having a color band wider than a color band of a standard is converted into L2C2H2 data at the uniform color space(S3). The L2C2H2 data is inversely converted into R'G'B' data after converting L1C1H1 data(S5). The R'G'B' data is displayed on the color band display device. |
