PURPOSE: A digital photographing device and control method thereof are provided to photograph by oneself at a structure which a user wants by directly registering a wanted photograph compositions when a user photographs oneself. CONSTITUTION: A slope of a digital photographing device is detected(S202). By using the slope, a shooting orientation of a digital photographing device is drawm(S204). If the photographing orientation is drawn, the photographing orientation is determined whether to satisfy the self photographing reference(S206). According to whether a self photographing reference is satisfied or not, self-photographing is provided to a shooting guide(S208).
