METHOD FOR CASTING BILLETS

The invention relates to foundry and steel industry and can be used to make dimensional billets of metals and alloys. A method consists in that a portion of melt being in precrystallization state is treated by vibration hydropulses, after which it is poured into a mold- capsule, which is gradually cooled by immersion into water. At the first stage the immersion speed is 2-5 cm/s at the depth of 0.1-0.2 of the height of melt level in the mold-capsule, at the second stage - 15-25 cm/s up to the height of 0.8-0.9 of the level height. Effect: high-quality castings.
