PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for compensating the line loss of a BS in a wireless communication system are provided to output a signal suited to a rated voltage level through the measurement and compensation of a power loss by an RF cable in the BS. CONSTITUTION: An RF(Radio Frequency) unit receives a data signal and a control signal from a digital unit(302). The RF unit detects an OCNS(Orthogonal Channel Noise Simulator) signal and a TDD(Time Division Duplex) signal from the received signals(304). The RF unit calculates the power loss of an RF cable(306). The RF unit adjusts the attenuation value of a second variable attenuator through the power loss value and maximum allowable power loss value of the RF cable(308). The RF unit sets the power level of the TDD signal to an initial value for the external temperature of the RF cable(310).
