<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber placement method and system without using expensive pre-impregnated fiber tows or dry preforms. <P>SOLUTION: The fiber placement system 10 includes a resin impregnation assembly 20 for applying a resin to one or more tows 2 and for infusing the fiber tows with the resin to form one or more inline resin-infused fiber tows. The fiber placement system is further equipped with a fiber placement head 30, and the fiber placement head 30 has a one or more coolers 40 constituted so as to receive the inline resin-infused fiber tows from the resin impregnation assembly and cool the same. The fiber placement head 30 further has one or more cutting machine assemblies 50 constituted so as to receive the resin-infused fiber tows after cooling and cutting the same, and a compaction assembly 60 constituted so as to receive the fiber tows after cutting and compress the same to a tool 70.
