PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling an optical connector, that can prevent a transparent film from being damaged, and to provide the optical connector. SOLUTION: The method for assembling the optical connector 100 is provided in which an optical fiber 11 is into an optical fiber holding hole 23 formed through a ferrule 15 and having a top end aperture closed by a transparent film 29 and the optical fiber 11 led out from the rear part of an optical fiber holding hole 23 is fixed in a bend form through a fixing means. In the method, a transparent film 29 is stuck to a tip end face 33 where a recess 31 is formed and the optical fiber holding hole 23 is opened to a bottom face 31a of the recess 31, of the ferrule 15 to cover the recess 31, and the tip end of the fiber protruding from the optical fiber holding hole 23 is pressed against the transparent film 29, for the assembling.
