PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera for early starting removal of foreign matter adhering to an optical element arranged on an imaging surface side of an imaging device. SOLUTION: The camera includes a foreign matter removing section for removing the foreign matter adhering to the optical element arranged on the imaging surface side of the imaging device, a first control section for controlling the operation of the foreign matter removing section, a power supply section for performing power supply from a battery to the foreign matter removing section and the first control section, a second control section for commanding the power supply section to start the power supply to the foreign matter removing section and the first control section in response to turn on of a power supply switch, and a voltage detection section for detecting voltage of the battery immediately after the turn on of the power supply switch. When the voltage detected by the voltage detection section is higher than a predetermined level, the first control section starts the operation of the foreign matter removing section.
