PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subcritical water treatment apparatus capable of obtaining a desired reaction product by accurately and rapidly cooling a reaction container. SOLUTION: The subcritical water treatment apparatus is equipped with a reaction container for reacting a mixture of a substance to be reacted and water under a temperature and pressure condition bringing the water to a subcritical state, a heating means provided along the outer surface of the reaction container to heat the inside of the reaction container to a subcritical temperature, a pressurization means for pressurizing the inside of the reaction container to a subcritical pressure and a cooling means containing a cooling medium therein and immersing the reaction container in the cooling medium to cool the whole of the reaction container.
