<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saltiness-improving agent for the alleviation of the irritating saltiness in salty food and beverages without adding flavor or aroma to the food and beverages unnecessarily. <P>SOLUTION: The saltiness improving agent for salty food and beverages contains phthalides as an active ingredient.
