PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding machine and a grinding method capable of highly accurate grinding while taking influence of a deflection amount of a workpiece into consideration. SOLUTION: The grinding machine grinds a workpiece W while bending the workpiece W by pressing a grinding stone 43 against the workpiece W. DifferenceΔX<SB>f</SB>(t) of the deflection amount of the workpiece W in a contact area between the workpiece W and the grinding stone 43 is calculated, and when the calculated differenceΔX<SB>f</SB>(t) of the deflection amount reaches a predetermined threshold valueΔXth or larger, relative feed speed of the grinding stone 43 for the workpiece W is changed.
