PURPOSE: A horizontal electric field type liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same are provided to improve the contrast property of the device by analyzing the gradation of an input image to reduce a turn-on level. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of data lines and a plurality of data gate lines are crossed in a liquid crystal display panel(10). A data driving circuit(12) supplies a data voltage to the data lines. A gate driving circuit(13) supplies a scan pulse to the data gate lines and selects horizontal lines to which the data voltage is supplied. An input image analyzing part differently controls the logic levels of a switch control signal based on the analysis result of the input image. |
