A support frame for a netbook, including an upper support rod having opposing ends extending outwardly and a corresponding pair of rod legs, each of the legs having an upper segment bent in a support angle relative to a bottom segment, and a pair of couplers rotatably coupling the opposing ends of the upper support to the bent segments of the pair of rod legs. Additionally at least one compressible sleeve covers at least one portion of the upper support rod, and at least one compressible sleeve on each of said bottom segments of said rod legs to provide traction. The coupler inner diameter is selected to have a precise relationship with the rod diameter in order that the torque required to pivot the legs is low enough for the user to open the stand and yet high enough that the stand stays open during use, such that in an open position the rod legs are rotatable to be perpendicular to the support rod and in a stored position the rod legs are rotatable to be coplanar with the support rod. In an open position the support frame can support an opened netbook such that the screen is raised and a cooling air gap is provided, and the frame holds the netbook in a stable position during use. |
