<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for distinguishing whether the cause of a failure results from an impact received from a fall or the like, in case where the failure has occurred in an electronic apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A impact detecting device 40 is accommodated in a casing 11 of electronic equipment 10. The impact detecting device 40 includes a substantially cube-shaped case 41, six pins 42, 42... joined to the inner wall of the case 41, and a ball 43. The six pins 42, 42... sandwiches the ball 43 therebetween. When a large impact is applied to the electronic equipment 10, the ball 43 receives a force in an either direction and pierces into one of the pins 42.
