PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor that forms a satisfactory output image where a positive ghost image is decreased, and at the same time, solves defect images such as a spot and fogging at a high level. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor includes: an intermediate layer and photosensitive layer on an electroconductive support in this order. The intermediate layer has a metal oxide particle with a 1-21C organic compound provided on a surface of the layer, wherein the organic compound contains an alkyl sulfonate group and either an aryl sulfonate group or an alkyl aryl sulfonate group.
