PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging member that has uniform electric resistance and is less likely to change in the resistance even with continuous power distribution for a long time, thereby exhibiting little change in charging performance with time. SOLUTION: The charging member includes an electroconductive support and elastic layer. In a vulcanizate of a composition, the elastic layer includes a vulcanized rubber, wherein the vulcanized rubber contains: a binder polymer containing a polymer having a butadiene skeleton; and a carbon black as a conductive particle. The polymer with the butadiene skeleton is subjected to denaturation treatment by an atom group whose molecular terminal has a specific structure. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
