PURPOSE: A method and device for automatically adjusting a focus of a camera are provided to scan a focal distance almost equal to a hyperfocal distance. CONSTITUTION: A driving unit(110) moves a lens to change a focal distance. A sensor(120) generates an image by sensing light passing the lens while the lens moves. A controller(130) calculates the focal value of the image. The controller sets a second scan interval according to an increase or a decrease of the focal value due to the focal distance within a first scan interval or detects an inflection point. The driving unit moves the lens to adjust the focal distance corresponding to the inflection point.
