<p>A transport device 700 includes a first segment 730 fixedly coupled to a wall (202, fig 13). The transport device also includes at least one second segment 708 coupled to the first segment. The at least one second segment includes at least one of a fluid-driven device (901, fig 18), a rack and pinion drive device (1001, fig 19), and a carriage 712. The transport device further includes an automated position control system (1300, fig 24). The control system includes at least one axial positioning device 712 coupled to the at least one second segment, and at least one axial position feedback device (1312,1318,1320,1324, fig 24) coupled to at least one of the first segment and the at least one second segment. The transport device may comprise a probe segment 308 coupled to the at least one second segment, for measuring emissions from an exhaust stack.
