The device has a conveying chain comprising two functional units arranged along a conveying section and connected to each other by a connecting element. The functional unit comprises two chain links (100, 200) that are operatively connected to each other and defined with different functions. One chain link is provided with a connecting region (110) to connect the conveying chain to a drive unit. The connecting region comprises a comb-shaped portion with teeth that extend perpendicular to a direction of the conveying section. The device has an insertion region that comprises a plastic or fiber-reinforced plastic material that is injection-molded around the spherical-shell segment.
