The method involves producing a display surface (20) in a monitor of a computer, and representing a set of images of an image series (Bc1-Bc4, Bp11-Bp34) within the display surface. A set of flat segments (21) is formed in the display surface, and a group of the images or the image series is represented in the flat segments, where the number of the flat segments is preset or changed by a user. Each displayed image and/or image series is copied by a drag and drop processes, and the copied image and/or image series are characterized by a visual marking as a foreign image. An independent claim is also included for a system for displaying digital medical images comprising a view point manager for producing a display surface on a monitor.
