PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single base lamp and a lamp unit which can be easily reduced in size and exhibit an excellent insertability to a socket. SOLUTION: A base having a proximal part of the base to a lamp body attached to an end of the lamp body, shaft parts protruding from the proximal part of the base to the lamp body, and a pair of terminal pins formed being exposed around the shaft part, is inserted into the socket having a base receiving face receiving the base and an insertion hole for introducing the shaft parts and the terminal pins, and the proximal part of the base to the lamp body is rotated in a state of abutting the base receiving face, thereby contacting the terminal pins with contacts disposed inside the insertion hole so that the single base lamp is attached to the socket in an inserting manner. The single base lamp is configured so that ends of the terminal pins on the side of a protruding direction of the shaft parts are located closer to the proximal part of the base to the lamp body than the ends of the shaft parts on the side of the protruding direction of the shaft parts, and tips of the terminal pins are in an R shape or chamfered.
