[Also in Division B1] The invention described in the parent Specification is modified by the addition to the extruder 1, after the second mixing zone, of a degassing opening 4. An opening 5 is provided for metering liquid substances into the extruder. A second flow retarding element 11 is provided. The elements 9 and 11 may be provided with either a right or left-hand thread which may be of different pitch from the screw 6. A plurality of degassing openings may be provided and use of a sub-atmospheric pressure of 15 mm. Hg in these zones is suggested.
