PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for forming an image with which an image of high gradation and high resolution can be obtained. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus by a tandem system includes at least a photoreceptor; a toner and an exposure device, wherein the photoreceptor has at least a photosensitive layer on a conductive support, with the toner being obtained by a wet polymerization method, the volume average particle diameter (Dv) of the toner ranging from 3 to 8μm, and particles having a particle diameter of 0.6 to 2.12μm measured with a flow type particle image analyzer being included by 3% by number or less of the number of the total number of particles.
