<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing utensil capable of achieving non-slip effect and excellent gripping feeling, and capable of preventing dirt such as dust or finger marks. <P>SOLUTION: In the writing utensil W with a cylindrical shaft body 1, a plurality of flat parts 11 and a plurality of rough parts 12 having surface roughness larger than the flat parts 11 are formed on an outer peripheral surface of the shaft body 1, and the flat parts 11 and the rough parts 12 are alternately and continuously arranged.
