<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of the overall apparatus and facilitate its maintenance work, by sharing a part of the functions of an inverter circuit and a charge/discharge chopper circuit and enabling both circuits to be switched for operation. <P>SOLUTION: A power converter includes an inverter circuit 24, which has a smoothing capacitor 3 and an inverter bridge 4, a charge/discharge chopper circuit 25 to which a capacitor 16 is connected via changeover switches 23u-23w and a reactor 15 to the AC output terminal of the inverter bridge 4 and which charges/discharges the capacitor 16 by the operation of a semiconductor switching element within the inverter bridge 4; an inverter control circuit 13; and a charge/discharge control circuit 14. The converter switches a function of driving a motor 5 by making the semiconductor switching element operate inside the inverter bridge 4 by the inverter control circuit 13 and a function of charging/discharging the capacitor 16, by making the semiconductor switching element operate inside the inverter bridge 4 by the charge/discharge chopper control circuit 14 by means of a control switching signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
