<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robust and highly precise pattern identification technology to a change of a pattern to be identified or its peripheral environment. <P>SOLUTION: Partial features associated by an input pattern and a registered pattern as a preliminarily registered pattern are extracted. A plurality of combinations of the partial features are generated as synthetic partial features. By using the multiple synthetic partial features, correspondence between a class of the input pattern and a class of the registered pattern. The identification is performed based on the result of the evaluation of the partial features belonging to the synthetic partial features, and associated with the input pattern and the registered pattern.
