The component has a photovoltaic element (10) formed as a micro-structural element on a surface (12) of the component, and an optically active structural element i.e. convex micro optical element (16) is provided within and/or adjacent to the photovoltaic element. The structural element is formed as a micro-structured surface structure such as a mirror, diffuser, diffraction grating, micro-prism and filter, and comprises pixels. The structure element is pressed on the surface of the component by screen printing process, drum printing process or pad printing process. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a motor vehicle component.
